Who we are
You Plus Wellness is a consultancy which provides clinical, research and advocacy services.
The clinical team provides psychological services through psychotherapy, training and psychological assessments. The research team enhances employee wellness programs and the advocacy team facilitates transition management tools for psychology majors in South Africa.

Audrey is the Founding Consutant of You Plus Wellness.
At the Netcare Rosebank Hospital, Audrey is resident psychologist at the Centre for Digestive Diseases and Liver Health (CDDLH). She contributes to clinical workshops for the advancement of integrated patient care.
She earned her Masters in Clinical Psychology with distinction from the University of Johannesburg in 2014. By that time she was on the Deans' List of Academic Excellence, and was a Golden Key Honours Society Member. Audrey later went to Dr George Mukhari Academic hospital, where she was trained in the interactional approach within systemic theory. She treated children, adolescents, families, couples and adults in psychotherapy. She was also involved in interventions within a multi-disciplinary team in maximum security wards at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital. She also worked in medical wards, notably with gynacology, oncology and parasuicide patients.
Audrey was later featured on national TV for her contribution to research on substance abuse and youth music culture. For her masters, Audrey focused on the lived experience of shame in the context of acquaintance rape and presented her work in Yokohama, Japan at the International Congress of Psychology in 2016.
Audrey is interviewed on different media contexts where she gives psycho-education. Through a practitioner-researcher model, Audrey is improving the psychooncology program that she developed for the CDDLH. In October 2018, Audrey presented this program at the 21st International Psychooncology Congress and Psychosocial Academy, Hong Kong. In July 2018, Audrey was appointed adjunct lecturer of psychology at Monash University South Africa. She was appointed to teach medical students at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University during 2019. Currently, she teaches clinical psychology masters students on a part-time basis at University of Johannesburg.

Lizane van Graan
Lizane van Graan is in the Clinical and Advocacy Team with notable contributions to CPD psychooncology seminars and Information Sessions of 2019. Approaching the September PsychJoy Seminar hosted at Boston Scientific courtesy of the CDDLH, she adopted a coordination role.
She started her journey in becoming a clinical psychologist at the North West University. She completed her undergraduate and Honours Degree in Psychology at the North West University. Hereafter, she completed a Practical Psychometry Degree (Equivalent to an Honours Degree) at the University of Johannesburg. Her internship as a Psychometrist provided her with experience in the educational psychology environment, assessing children for school readiness, subject choice, and career choice. She worked in the field of Psychometry for 5 years before embarking on her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology.
For the first 2 years of her work in the field of Psychometry, she worked in an industrial psychology environment where the work was predominantly court cases. For the remaining 3 years, she worked within the corporate environment. She gained extensive experience within recruitment and developmental processes from the perspective of employees and employers’ strengths, developmental areas, values, motives, job satisfaction, job alignment, personality traits, ability to think strategically, leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and cognitive capacity. Lizane also had the opportunity to work closely with psychotherapists in a private capacity where she provided them with psychometric assessments.
She continued her studies further and obtained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Limpopo. Her internship was completed at Dr. George Mukhari Academic Hospital (which included 3 months at Weskoppies) and her Community Service year was completed at Sebokeng Hospital. She gained experience with psychiatric in-patients, medical ward patients which would range from suicide attempts, cancer patients, domestic violence victims, surgery patients, to name but a few. In addition, she worked with people of all ages and in a broad cultural setting.
Lizane value continued professional development and has been attending courses to further her therapeutic and professional knowledge and skill set. Each client is a unique individual and she aims to provide them with a therapeutic intervention or technique as deem appropriately to his/her/their unique situation and circumstances. These would include but is not limited to that of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interactional Therapy, Family Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy and Play Therapy.
Stefania is in the Advocacy Team and contributes to our Psychology Information Sessions.
She obtained her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology through the University of Pretoria and completed her internship at Holy Rosary School and at Itsoseng Psychological Clinic in Mamelodi. She has developed and implemented a workshop utilising Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to address the needs of children who have been exposed to mixed trauma. Her training and practical experience has allowed her to develop a diverse and strong foundation, strengthening her passion for community work. Stefania has a special interest in working with anxiety, as well as with children and adolescents.
She portrays a strong work ethic and strives to be empathic and accessible to her clients in order to provide them with a safe space in which they feel comfortable to explore their emotions. Her practical experience has allowed her to develop and refine her skills in the areas of individual therapy as well as assessment methods.
She has been trained in Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as Gestalt Play Therapy and Narrative Therapy. When working with clients, she takes into account the needs of the client as each person is unique. Her approach to therapy is thus that it should enable the client to feel comfortable while engaging in the therapeutic process.

Rachel is in the Clinical Team and contributes to Therapy Services at our Rosebank Offices. Rachel also contributes to our psychology information sessions and Rosebank CPD Seminars.
She works with children and adults with a range of psychological difficulties. She has a teaching foundation with a focus on young children. and is also resident school psychologist at Wendywood Primary School in Sandton.
Her passion for social justice and supporting those with unheard voices is a core reason why she connects with the Advocacy aspect of You Plus Wellness. Rachel utilizes media for psycho-education through television interviews as part of her advocacy work.
She graduated with a Masters in Educational Psychology at the University of Witwatersrand in 2016. Prior to that she had earned a BA in Health Sciences and Social Services with a specialization in Counselling from the University of South Africa in 2007.

Vilene Van Rooyen
Client Services Associate

Vilene is an administrative associate for our partnership with the CDDLH. She is operational in services related to the Psychooncology Program we manage for the CDDLH.
Vilene has spent the past 8 years working as a Medical Receptionist, Personal Assistant and in Practice Management at different hospitals around Johannesburg. She has a special interest in Business development and administrative services and has completed the following subjects at UNISA: Basic Psychology, Thinking Skills, African Languages, Anthropology, Philosophy and English Languages (ENN101D). Vilene is open, reliable and warm.
Vilene has completed the following courses: Crisis and trauma handling (Hope School of Counselling), Service Delivery (Internal Mediclinic WDGMC) and Fundamentals of Project Management (Milpark Business School).
Due to her extensive experience, clients can expect to receive clarity and professionalism concerning administrative aspects of the practice. She genuinely engages with clients and maintains this throughout all interactions.

Thato is in the Advocacy Team and is Student Coordinator in our Mentoring hub, the PsychJoy team. Adjacent to that role she runs a campaign that aims to address knowledge gaps about careers in psychology.
She has a special interest in the field of Clinical and Research Psychology and desires to find solutions to some of the nations most pressing issues. From a young age she had the dream to impact her world with her positive spirit. She was directed to a career in Psychology after years of searching for a suitable career. She went on to pursue her BA Psychology at the University of Johannesburg and later went to study at the University of South Africa where she completed her Honours degree in 2017.
Thato hopes that young people who wish to pursue a career in Psychology do so with clarity and vision. You Plus Wellness Advocacy believe that students of psychology can be trained to pursue different areas of the discipline and explore informed means to apply their qualifications in different work contexts.
