Meet the team
Audrey Katsidzira Audrey is the Founding Consultant of You Plus Wellness.
At the Netcare Rosebank Hospital, Audrey is resident psychologist at the Centre for Digestive Diseases and Liver Health (CDDLH). She contributes to clinical workshops for the advancement of integrated patient care. She earned her Masters in Clinical Psychology with distinction from the University of Johannesburg in 2014. By that time she was on the Deans' List of Academic Excellence, and was a Golden Key Honours Society Member. Audrey later went to Dr George Mukhari Academic hospital, where she was trained in the interactional approach within systemic theory. She treated children, adolescents, families, couples and adults in psychotherapy. She was also involved in interventions within a multi-disciplinary team in maximum security wards at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital. She also worked in medical wards, notably with gynacology, oncology and parasuicide patients. Audrey was later featured on national TV for her contribution to research on substance abuse and youth music culture. For her masters, Audrey focused on the lived experience of shame in the context of acquaintance rape and presented her work in Yokohama, Japan at the International Congress of Psychology in 2016. Audrey is interviewed on different media contexts where she gives psycho-education. Through a practitioner-researcher model, Audrey is improving the psychooncology program that she developed for the CDDLH. In October 2018, Audrey presented this program at the 21st International Psychooncology Congress and Psychosocial Academy, Hong Kong. In July 2018, Audrey was appointed adjunct lecturer of psychology at Monash University South Africa. She was appointed to teach medical students at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University during 2019. Currently, she teaches clinical psychology masters students on a part-time basis at University of Johannesburg. |

Siphumile Nqoko Siphumlile 'Phumi' Nqoko is in the Clinical Team and contributes to psychological services. Phumi consults from the Netcare at Rosebank as part of the CDDLH psychoncological services. She contributes to continous professional development meetings and is a mentor to PsychJoy, our psychology student mentoring hub. Phumi also facilitates group therapy as part of her practice.
She obtained her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and completed her internship at Helen Joseph Hospital. She works with children, adults and adolescents who experience a range of psychological difficulties. Phumi has a special interest in working with depression, anxiety, complex trauma as well as organizational wellness. She has been trained in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systems Theory and Gestalt Play Therapy. When working with clients, Phumi believes that each client has the internal resources that can facilitate their own psychological well-being and that this can be achieved in a safe therapeutic environment. Phumi has a passion for mental health advocacy and aspires to be involved in policy restructuring and development that affect mental health access in South Africa. |

Rachel Makoni Rachel is in the Clinical Team and contributes to Therapy Services at our Rosebank Offices. Rachel also contributes to our psychology information sessions and Rosebank CPD Seminars. She also facilitates group therapy as part of her practice.
She works with children and adults with a range of psychological difficulties. She has a teaching foundation with a focus on young children. and is also resident school psychologist at Wendywood Primary School in Sandton. Her passion for social justice and supporting those with unheard voices is a core reason why she connects with the Advocacy aspect of You Plus Wellness. Rachel utilizes media for psycho-education through television interviews as part of her advocacy work. She graduated with a Masters in Educational Psychology at the University of Witwatersrand in 2016. Prior to that she had earned a BA in Health Sciences and Social Services with a specialization in Counselling from the University of South Africa in 2007. |

Vilene Van Rooyen Client Services Associate

Vilene is an administrative associate for our partnership with the CDDLH. She is operational in services related to the Psychooncology Program we manage for the CDDLH.
Vilene has spent the past 8 years working as a Medical Receptionist, Personal Assistant and in Practice Management at different hospitals around Johannesburg. She has a special interest in Business development and administrative services and has completed the following subjects at UNISA: Basic Psychology, Thinking Skills, African Languages, Anthropology, Philosophy and English Languages (ENN101D). Vilene is open, reliable and warm. Vilene has completed the following courses: Crisis and trauma handling (Hope School of Counselling), Service Delivery (Internal Mediclinic WDGMC) and Fundamentals of Project Management (Milpark Business School). Due to her extensive experience, clients can expect to receive clarity and professionalism concerning administrative aspects of the practice. She genuinely engages with clients and maintains this throughout all interactions. Thato is in the Advocacy Team and is Student Coordinator in our Mentoring hub, the PsychJoy team. Adjacent to that role she runs a campaign that aims to address knowledge gaps about careers in psychology.
She has a special interest in the field of Clinical and Research Psychology and desires to find solutions to some of the nations most pressing issues. From a young age she had the dream to impact her world with her positive spirit. She was directed to a career in Psychology after years of searching for a suitable career. She went on to pursue her BA Psychology at the University of Johannesburg and later went to study at the University of South Africa where she completed her Honours degree in 2017. Thato hopes that young people who wish to pursue a career in Psychology do so with clarity and vision. You Plus Wellness Advocacy believe that students of psychology can be trained to pursue different areas of the discipline and explore informed means to apply their qualifications in different work contexts. |
